	Troubleshoot - Static In Headphones

Solution This only affects Carbon 5GB Silver units produced before end of 2004. This static or skipping doesn't exist with the included headphones or most headphones you may purchase. If your headphones have a wide metal base that comes in contact with the metal top of the Carbon, you may hear static during playback when you move the Carbon.

HEADPHONE EXTENDER:

Included with Rio Carbons after serial # 4240000077846 that didn't yet have the fix.

SERIAL NUMBER CUT-OFF:

Units manufactured after serial # 514000015289 [week 51] should already have the fix for this problem. There was a period of time including weeks 51 and 52 of 2004, where some units had the fix, and some didn't. Units manufactured after 4240000077846 [week 42 through week 52] will have the headphone extender included

AFFECTED PLAYERS:

Only the Rio Carbon 5GB Silver units produced before week 53 of 2004. This problem does NOT affect Pearl or ce21xx units.
