Troubleshoot - Hard Drive - Bad Karma Or Hard Disk Failed Error Messages
Troubleshoot - Hard Drive - Bad Karma Or Hard Disk Failed Error Messages
Solution
Refer to the solution below if you Karma is displaying an error message of "Bad Karma" or "Hard Disk Failed".
The hard drive is the core storage component on the player. It is a delicate device that can be susceptible to damage, as it has internal moving parts. Under normal conditions, desktop use or walking, the player with a hard drive will perform well within its limits.
However, if you jar or consistently move the hard drive erratically; you are inviting a failure. Activities such as jogging, running, etc. are not recommended and will cause premature drive failure. Rio recommends its sports line of players for such activities.
If your player will not boot and your are experiencing continued problems with the player. Force UPGRADER on the player and format the player. Please be aware that formatting the player will delete all files on the player.
FORCE UPGRADER
UPGRADER is a mode that purges the firmware from the Rio player prior to flashing the unit. Firmware is basically the operating system for the player, so if it is corrupted any number of things can occur.
- Disconnect player from PC
- Press and hold MENU
