 How To - Upgrade Firmware
Solution There are two ways to upgrade the firmware on the player. You can upgrade easily through Rio Music Manager or by downloading the file and executing the update manually.

It is not necessary to update the firmware on the player in steps. In other words, if you are using an initial release firmware and there are two or three updates since then, you can just install the latest firmware release.

UPGRADING FROM RIO MUSIC MANAGER

- Connect player to PC.
- Open Rio Music Manager
- Click on the Rio Player in the Device List.
- Click TOOLS from the Menu Bar
- Click CHECK FOR UPDATE
- Click CHECK NOW
- If there is an update, click UPDATE NOW
- After the file downloads, the upgrade wizard will open, click NEXT
- Your player should display in the list, click NEXT
- Follow the on screen instructions for updating the firmware.
- When the firmware update is completed click FINISH
- Click FINISH to close the update window
- When the player boots it will ask for a language

DOWNLOAD FILE AND UPDATE MANUALLY

- Connect to the internet
- Go to http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/
- Click on the appropriate player
- Click on the FIRMWARE tab [showing by default]
- Click on the latest firmware file [example: RioForge_firmware_133.exe]
- Click SAVE when prompted
- From the SAVE IN drop down list select DESKTOP
- Click SAVE
- When the download completes, double click on file that was downloaded
- Click BROWSE
- Click DESKTOP
- Click OK
- Click INSTALL
- Close README.TXT file by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner [this provides step by step instructions and information about the fixes]
- Connect player to PC
- Double Click on the flasher [example: RioForge_firmware_133.exe]
- Click NEXT
- Highlight Player when detected
- Click Next
- When the firmware update is completed click FINISH
- When the player boots it will ask for a language

Once the update is complete, you are now ready to transfer music. Once you disconnect the player from the computer, the player will reboot and the display will ask you to choose a language.
